Like my drawings, I begin the majority of my paintings working directly from nature. Some of them are finished on the spot, but more often than not, I work them up and refine them in the studio. I paint in oils, watercolor and gouache. My oils are painted on prepared masonite panels, prepared paper, canvas panels, stretched canvas and linen mounted on board. I like the idea of changing things up now and then to keep the process interesting, but quite often it's just about convenience. I also work in watercolor and gouache, often combining the two with drawing mediums for added emphasis.
